Introduction to Medical Translation and Interpreting

Medical interpreters and translators face challenging scenarios and assume a big commitment to ensure accuracy when conveying the message. Unless the linguist is also a healthcare professional, there is a gap in knowledge to be filled.

English is lingua franca in medicine and science, which can create issues to find an equivalent in the target language.

This online event will cover:

• Routes to become a qualified interpreter and/or translator in the United Kingdom

• Useful resources and CPD

• Challenges that medical interpreters and translators face

• Strategies to deal with translation and interpreting challenges

Key take-aways: Attendees will be able to learn the basics about how to start a career in medical interpreting and translation, strategies to fill the gaps in knowledge and resources for CPD in this field.

Programme timings:

10am - Welcome

10.05am - Talk

10.50am - Q&A
